End of Year Murals

My Jr High Students painted these patriot murals for the end of the year project.  I bought the templates off of artprojectsforkids.org, one of my favorite site for art ideas.  Then each student had one piece (about 8x 11) to paint. Then we put them all together to create the finished project.  I was really impressed with how they turned out so I wanted to share.  We had a fun year and I was so happy that I made it through my first year of teaching full time.  I still cannot believe I made it.  It was so busy that is went by fast. 

Florida

Budd and I were able to go to Florida at the beginning of May for a few days. We enjoyed beautiful beaches and sunsets, collecting sea shells, visiting Captiva Island, seeing alligators in the everglades, eating crab, and playing volleyball on the beach,  all the while driving around a mustang.  We had a great and relaxing time.  What a fun trip!

HIking with Daddy

With the nice weather Daddy has been in the mood for hiking.  We have a cool trail near our house up the canyon.  Daddy put alea in the baby backpack and took her along.  She had fun hiking with Daddy and meeting all the people and dogs along the way.

Brinlee

Brinlee had a Fun 8th bday party with 8 friends.  There was lots of dancing and having fun when daddy set up the video camera so that they could see themselves on the TV screen.  The girls made their own pizzas and they each got to make a wuggle pet (a mini build a bear type stuffed animal) with a kit we got. It was a hit and I think everyone had a great time!

Family photo at Brinlee's baptism

Brinlee's baptism was on Saturday April 28th. She was so excited and smiling all day. A few minutes after her baptism she asked if she could be baptized again. She was such a cutie.  We had a great program with her aunt and uncle giving great talks and Daddy sharing the experience of his baptism in a cold river, but feeling warm after he went under the water.  What a special day.

On the same day of Brinlee's baptism she also had her school play.  IT was called"HOnk Jr." The story of the ugly duckling.  It was such a cute show and everyone did a great job. Brinlee was a snow person and had a little singing solo.  SHe did a great job.  At the end of her long day she said, "This was the best day ever." What a neat day for BRinlee!

In march I went on a fun weekend trip to LA for my friend Chalyse's 30th bday.  She really wanted to go to the price is right so we got a group of us and made shirts and got on the list.  We had a blast.  We were crazy and more crazy so they sat us on the front row and my Chalyse got up as a contestant and almost won a car.  Drew Carrey even talked to us during the comercial breaks.  He asked me "What do you do?" and I replied that I am an art teacher.  Then he said,"Oh you must have thought to yourself, what can I do to make a million dollars and you said... ART TEACHER." He was so funny.  He even kissed my friend since we all had it on our shirts! We had a blast.  We had time to visit the beach and we saw the wiener mobile in our parking lot.  IT was a fun trip!

I cannot believe I have not updated on here since last year. I guess that goes to show we have been a little busy this school year. I have been teaching full time at Jefferson Academy as a Jr High art teacher while Budd has been finishing up his Nursing school at the U of U. He has one more semester this summer and then he will graduate. Yipee. THe kids are doing great in school. BRinlee is 2nd grade and Spencer in kindergarten. Our sweet renters watch Alea all day and they have been great. Alea is such a happy girl. We are so happy for the warm weather coming and excited to get outside to play more. I will try to post more and post some of my fun art projects we have done this year.
